Adding notes to plants
Notes are short text entries you attach to a saved plant. They're the journal next to the scan history, "applied neem oil today," "first flower buds," "moved to brighter window", and they show up on the plant timeline next to each scan so the context is right there when you re-scan a week later.
Where to add a note
From the Notes tab on any saved plant's detail page. Type into the textarea and hit Add note. The note attaches to that plant with today's timestamp.
From the Calendar: click any day in /calendar and use + Note in the day detail panel. Notes added from the calendar can be BACKDATED to that day, useful for logging things you forgot to record in the moment.
What notes are good for
Treatment log. "Sprayed potassium bicarbonate for powdery mildew, day 1 of 3." Next time you scan, the diagnosis history shows the note inline so you remember what was tried.
Environmental changes. "Moved to greenhouse," "started using filtered water," "increased humidity to 65%." Context for understanding why a diagnosis changed.
Milestones. "First fruit set," "flower buds visible," "harvested 6 leaves." Useful for batch-tracking and yield estimation later.
Tier limits per plant
Basic: 5 notes per plant.
Grower: 50 notes per plant.
Cultivator: unlimited.
When you hit the cap, the textarea disables and shows "X / Y notes used · limit reached." Delete an older note to free a slot, or upgrade.
Frequently asked
- Can I edit a note after creating it?
- Not in-place. Delete the existing note (trash icon next to it) and add a new one with the corrected text. The timestamp resets, so use the calendar's backdate feature if you need the corrected note to land on the original day.
- Are notes searchable?
- Not yet, the search bar in the top nav searches saved plants by name. Notes-content search is on the roadmap. For now, browse from the plant's Notes tab.
- Will my notes appear in PDF reports?
- Yes. The per-plant PDF report includes every note with its date and full body text, alongside the scan history. Useful for vet consults or sharing with collaborators.
