Using the Calendar to track plant activity

By GrowPilot Editorial·4 min read·Updated May 29, 2026

The Calendar at /calendar is a month view of everything that happened to your plants, color-coded by activity type. It's the fastest way to spot patterns, "I haven't checked the basil in two weeks" or "three plants got sick the same week, what changed?", and the cleanest interface for adding notes and reminders to a specific day.

What each colored dot means

Each day cell in the month grid shows up to four small dots representing the activity that day. The legend sits below the grid: green = healthy scan, red = unhealthy scan, secondary tone = reminder, foreground gray = note, amber = harvest.

Days with multiple activities show stacked dots. Today is outlined in primary green; the currently-selected day is highlighted with a tinted background.

Day detail panel

Click any day to open the detail panel below the grid. The panel shows that day's date as a heading and lists every activity: scans (with View link to scan history), reminders (with View link to /reminders), notes (expandable to read the full text), and harvests (with View link to /batches).

Notes expand inline, click the truncated preview and the full note text appears. A "Read full note →" link sends you to the plant detail page if the note was truncated.

Adding notes and reminders inline

Two buttons appear in the day detail panel header: + Reminder and + Note. Each opens a small inline form pre-filled with the selected day's date.

Reminders: only available for today or future days (the cron only sends future reminders). Pick a plant from the dropdown, choose kind (water, fertilize, prune, etc.), set time, and create.

Notes: works for any day in the past year. Pick a plant, write the note, save. The note is backdated to land on the day you clicked, useful for logging things you forgot to record in the moment.

Tier requirements

Calendar is on the Grower plan and up. Basic users see a TierLock with an upgrade prompt.

All of your saved plants' activity rolls up into one calendar, you don't need to filter per plant. The day detail panel breaks activity down by plant when there's more than one.

Frequently asked

Can I see future scheduled reminders on the calendar?
Yes. Reminders appear on the day they're due (or the snoozed-until date, whichever is later). Future reminders show as the secondary-tone dot; sent reminders are styled the same way but appear in the history panel when clicked.
Why don't I see the +Reminder button on a past day?
Reminders fire via a daily cron based on scheduledFor, backdating one wouldn't trigger any email or push. So the calendar gates +Reminder to today and future. Notes can still be backdated since they're a log of what happened, not a future task.
Can I edit or delete an activity from the calendar?
Click the activity's View link to open it on its own page (e.g. /reminders for a reminder, /plants/[id] for a note). Edit and delete actions live there. Inline edit from the calendar isn't supported today.
